Today (12/10/09) is International Human Rights Day and Portishead have a new tune they recorded for Amnesty International. The song was heard first on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 on Dec. 9th. The title refers not to a tear from the eye, but to tearing like ripping. After such a long hiatus, it is wonderful to see such a creative and continuously evolving sound come from this brilliant Bristol band.

You can buy the track at 7 digital and all of the proceeds will go to Amnesty International.
