Coinciding with her fast-approaching career retrospective at MoMA (March 14 – May 31, 2010), preeminent performance artist Marina Abramović collaborated with nonprofit art outreach organization More Art to produce the “Energy Blanket”, which contains 14 strategically placed magnets that correspond to the body’s energy meridians. Of the limited-edition blankets, which will carry a price tag of $460, Abramović states:
“In my work, all the transitory objects have one thing in common:
they do not exist on their own; the public must interact with
them. Some objects are there to empty the viewer, some to
give energy, and some to make a mental departure possible.
The energy blanket is one of those objects whose function is
to give energy to the user.”
