You may remember Jonathan Goldstein from his numerous contributions on This American Life or possibly you have read on of his books. Wiretap is his own show on CBC radio. Until now, it has not been too well known even though it has been on the radio for 5 years and has steadily grown a small cult following. Now that Wiretap has a podcast, it is sure to become much more broadly known, much like This American Life. In fact, since the podcast began last September, he has been doing live performances of the show to enthusiastic audiences all over Canada, where the show originates from. He interviews friends, strangers and would be cult heroes, mixing it all together into a narrative of insanity. This is quite possibly the funniest, strangest, near-true life storytelling I have ever heard. It often walks the fine line between documentary / interview / scripted comedy and utter strangeness all through the use of phone conversations and commentary. Oh, and always with a straight face. Perfectly brilliant!
