Frankenstein was the first true horror film in cinema history.
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein on celluloid this week, you can watch the entire, original 13 minute “Edison’s Frankenstein” film below (it gets bigger, just click on it). Edison himself had nothing to with the making of the movie, but, the short was made by the studio that bore his moniker and used his film process, the Edison Kinetogram. Boris Karloff was, of course, the best known Frankenstein, but was actually the fourth actor to portray the monster!
