Design Help, a clever, philanthropic association of young architects and designers from A1Architects bring new meaning to the adage “waste not, want not” with an original, sanguine jewelry collection. The collection, utilizing safe, recycled medical waste, was sold at Designblok10; all proceeds fund the renovation of the hematology department interior at Královské Vinohrady University Hospital in Prague, designed by A1Architects. Earrings, bracelets and necklaces were fashioned from different kinds of infusion lids and outdated infusion hoses, and other safe, recycled hospital waste.
According to the Design Help website, many of the architects and designers involved have been patients in the hematology clinic and are participating to facilitate funding of the department’s new design, in conjunction with the Janele endowment fund.
