Witch house act FlAsh$i† (of Black Bvs Records) called upon the up and coming super8 filmographer and videographer Julieta Triangular to fabricate the visuals for the track “Black Roses.” The music video premiered simultaneously in Madrid (at the re-claimed factory space La Tabacalera) and Barcelona this weekend.
Featuring a sacrificial ritual along the coast of Sant Adrià de Besòs, young girls clad in black give their blood on thorned roses to be cast in the sea. The video features Spanish actresses Bárbara Sánchez, Karin Chokolate, Cristina Arias Gonzáles, Graciela Gómez, Alia Atreides, Laura Eme Uve, Fran Straube, Najma Baggasse.

Here’s a brief Q&A with Julieta:
What was your concept? What intrigues you?
Is about two women, one is the creation of another. One is like Frankenstein, the other as the witch eager to love. The work and the creator. Executioner women want to give love to his mistress and murdered women of hearts on fire to get it. I have relied on figured such as Elizabeth Bathory, but also in myths such as Tristan and Isolde (die side of love.)
Who are the mysterious women?
It is the soul, the vulnerable part of the woman who believes that blood can find its origin.
You’re one of the few witch house artists who incorporates your own footage with appropriation, I think this makes your work very unique. Are you interested in making work beyond music video?
But I love appropriation, my super8 experiments also need the confrontation of nature and actress. Always outdoors. I am preparing a short science fiction, I shoot in a psychiatric institution, black and white.
How has Spain received witch house?
Is in the process of being complete possessed by the magic and rituals that we are still to be presented.
Tell me about FlAsh$i† & your involvement.
Is an excellent DJ and creator, knew my work in super8. Asked me to do something sexy and bloody. The result is the new video.
