Dallas-based songstress Lily Taylor launches her North East Ride Under Glass Tour with the music video premiere of her single, “Fade,” off her new album The Ride on local indie label Pour le Corps. Taylor’s ethereal and multi-faceted work has been described as “angelic and visceral” (Impose) with a voice of a “soulful alien serenading the universe” (Dallas Observer). Her musical background is well rounded, pulling from R&B, funk, and Balkan studies to form a diverse electro-pop album that retains its quiet, graceful simplicity. With hair reshaped into a structural wonder courtesy of Lauren Klein and unreal headdresses from Cantoinette Studios, Taylor entrances us in a world caught between the glitchy dreamscapes of video artist Sean Miller and some nameless night in the woods. In “Fade,” Miller’s work is projected on Taylor, building upon an ongoing visual/musical exchange, as Miller has collaborated and provided visual backdrops for Taylor’s live performances since 2009. The video was crafted by Lee Clowers, founder of Irregular Visions, in two outdoor locations in Texas, her newfound home state after having establishing herself in The Bay Area’s music scene, often performing for SOME THING drag showcase.
