Alysha Layla Shaw is a musician, performer, inter-media artist and community organizer based (or stuck) in Santa Fe, NM. She has an extensive theatre background, which has included lead roles in productions of musicals, dramatic plays, one-acts, and two independent short films. Shaw is a classically trained vocalist who performed at Carnegie Hall as a child, and was a Vermont All State vocalist. These days you will find her building human-sized post-industrial birds nests, taking naps under piles of leaves in uncomfortably upholstered red rooms, making a home (or an all-encompassing musical instrument) out of remnants of the nuclear family and Americana, post-apocalypse, singing Balkan and Middle Eastern folk songs, playing the traditional percussion of the Balkans and Middle East, subversively shooting video of the corporate wasteland that is Cerrillos Road in Santa Fe, NM, playing in the snow, drinking whiskey, and working diligently to get the progressive Mayor of Santa Fe re-elected.
