In June, we featured her music videos for FlAsh$i† and Felt Drawings, and later the Mater Suspiria Vision video “Seduction of the Armageddon Witches”, in which she served as assistant director for Deigo Barerra. Now, the up-and-coming Spanish filmmaker Julieta Triangular will debut her first short narrative endeavor, Huérfanos de Astronautas (Astronaut Orphans).
Julieta furthers her adoration for super8 film and digital distortion in this mid-apocalypse love story that follows Juan (Richard Olea) to Valparaiso’s search of his ex-girlfriend Helena (Maria Jesus Muñoz) to kill her in the midst of a cephalopod invasion before the sea creatures do. “First, they drink their eyes; then, they introduce one of their tentacles into the mouth until they tear the windpipe, transforming each of the victim’s facial expressions into a hot mass of flesh; and finally, when they decide to abandon their victims, they stain with their blue blood each human piece, resembling their last kiss, like if they cherished them unconsciously.” Reunion, survival, and transcendence colour the film’s take on the world’s end. “We all suffer from the Earth’s adaptation syndrome. We all are astronaut orphans.”
Huérfanos de Astronautas – a film from Julieta Triangular – exclusive:

“TODOS SOMOS HUÉRFANOS DE ASTRONAUTAS. PADECEMOS DEL SINDROME DE ADAPTACIÓN A LA TIERRA. A TODOS NOS HAN HERIDO DE MANERA SEMEJANTE”
